For the second gamification week, I chose to make a magazine collage. The materials I used consisted of rubber cement, multiple magazines, scissors, and a plain white sheet o paper. The steps I took in creating this art piece is first I had to find magazines that had empowering words in them. After I found one, I would cut it out to the size I wanted. Once i had a good amount, I would then glue them to the paper. I learned that using different sizes and fonts really make it interesting. One this I would add to this project is to fill the upper and lower space that have a lot of white. I will probably do that at a later time. The message that I was trying to get across is how saying or reading one powerful word can encourage you. This art piece inspired me because just one word can change your attitude about things.
For the first week of gamification, I decided to do painting. I chose painting because it is something I enjoy. It challenges me but i have fun doing it. There is a lot of freedom in painting which I love. When you are painting, you do it in steps. I also think of it as layers. Because I did different painting, I had to do different steps for each. For my first painting, the one with the rainbow, I had to do it in many steps. I first chose my colors, then I had to paint my thumb the color that was next. I obviously started with red, then I washed my thumb and paint brush and was off to the next color. I did that for the rest of the paper. One thing that I don't normally do is wait for it to dry. I just like the slightly blended look. My favorite part of this was the freedom we got. We could paint anything we wanted to. In other classes, we have to do the same thing as everybody else. That is really boring. It is also cool because you get to see what everybody else made and it's nothing like yours. I learned that patience is key. You want to take your time and perfect it to make sure you get it exactly the way you want it. I wish i would of added something else to the simple painting down below. After i finished it, I realized it was a little plain. One this that I would want to improve on is the letters on the rainbow painting and make them more straight. One idea that I was trying to get across was the painting with the quote. The quote say "Live life in color." I chose that quote because it went good with my background and it is a good message. |
